What is the application / interview process like?
- After an applicant submits an application via our website, it will be reviewed by Aramark’s hiring team. If the application is promising, the application will be presented to on-site staff at Lake Mead Cruises who will reach out by phone or email to arrange an interview with a supervisor. If the interviewed applicant is selected for hire, they will be informed and sent for a pre-employment drug screening. The applicant then completes any required online paperwork as soon as possible, and a background screen is begun. Following receipt of clear drug and background screen results, Lake Mead Cruises contacts the applicant to arrange a date and time for orientation and first shift. Depending upon the speed of drug screen testing and processing of the background check, the process may take 1 to 2 weeks.
Is transportation paid for?
- Regular commuting for shifts is not paid for; however, if the job requires out-of-area travel for specialized training or other reasons, this will be covered by Lake Mead Cruises. Lake Mead Cruises provides associates with passes for daily entry into Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
Will I need a car?
- With very few exceptions, associates live in Boulder City, Henderson, or Las Vegas (with commutes ranging from 5 miles to 30 miles) and commute via personal vehicle. Bicycling is an option for those living in Boulder City. There is no public transportation currently operating stops inside the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
Where can I go shopping?
- Boulder City offers grocery shopping, convenience stores, antique stores, and specialty shops. Henderson and Las Vegas have countless major retailers to choose from.
What can I do on my time off?
- The Lake Mead National Recreation Area offers many hiking outings, volunteer opportunities, and other ranger-led activities throughout the year. Boulder City and Henderson are home to parks, restaurants, bars, and museums, and Las Vegas is known as the Entertainment Capital of the World. Mt. Charleston, just 90 minutes away, offers scenic hiking and, in the winter, skiing and snowboarding. Red Rock Canyon and the Valley of Fire also offer world-class scenic hikes, and are both less than a 90-minute drive from Lake Mead Cruises. The options for spending your free time in Southern Nevada are endless.
What will I need to bring?
- Black pants, shorts, and black or white sneakers, or deck shoes for uniform purposes. Everything else associates may need is provided.
Are there appearance guidelines?
- We expect all crew members to present a neat and professional appearance and outline our expectations in our uniform policy (which is presented to all conditional hires). Hair should be appropriately cut and maintained. Facial hair is allowed but must be kept neatly-trimmed. Jewelry should be kept to a minimum. Fingernails must be clean and trimmed and not adorned with polish or false nails. The display of tattoos is subject to management’s discretion, and crew members may be asked to cover them.
Is smoking allowed on site?
- Lake Mead Cruises is a strictly tobacco-free workplace, and associates may not use tobacco (traditional cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, chew, etc.) while on the clock and on property. Guests are allowed to smoke in outdoor areas of the landing and vessel.
Can I bring my pet/kid/girlfriend/boyfriend?
- Guests should not accompany you while working, but we encourage all our crew members to bring family and friends aboard complimentary cruises on your off time. Animals, other than service animals, are not allowed on Lake Mead Cruises’ landing or vessel.
Internet, cell phone coverage, access?
- Major cell phone carriers offer solid coverage in the Hemenway Harbor area of Lake Mead. Internet access is available through multiple providers in the Boulder City/Henderson/Las Vegas area. Associates are not allowed to use cell phones for personal reasons within view of the public while on the clock.
Are there employee activities?
- At least once a year, Lake Mead Cruises organizes off-work get-togethers for crew members. Events have included barbecues, bowling, attending sporting events, and our annual year-end holiday party. Crew members are also encouraged to take part in local volunteer activities. The Lake Mead National Recreation Area offers many volunteer events throughout the year, as well as hiking outings and other ranger-led activities.
