Types of Positions

Below are some of the types of positions we offer but please see our current open positions with detailed job descriptions.

  • Bartender: Sells, prepares, and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks aboard our vessel, as well as occasionally acting as a food and cocktail server. Assists in preparation for cruises and special events. Maintains a tidy and sanitary work area. 
  • Server: Takes passenger orders and serves food and drinks aboard cruises and during special events. Works as a team with other servers and crew to ensure guest satisfaction. Must be able to climb and descend stairs with ease and use a computerized POS system.
  • Captain: Operates our three-deck paddlewheel vessel during cruises. Directs deckhands to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and crew aboard the vessel. Leads safety drills and assists with minor maintenance as needed. Must maintain a 100-ton mariner’s license from the US Coast Guard.
  • Lead Cook: Works with and directs cooks and prep cooks to prepare meals aboard the vessel. Assists in or leads the creation of menus and recipes and assists management and supervisors in the execution of cruises and special events. Participates in kitchen cleaning, cost-control and waste prevention, and product ordering and storage. Responsible for supervision and scheduling of galley staff.
  • Prep Cook: Assists with basic ingredient and dish preparation aboard the vessel. Additional responsibilities include dish washing and maintaining overall kitchen cleanliness.
  • Cook: Prepares short-order grill foods, buffet items, dinner entrees, and special event dishes while maintaining a safe and sanitary galley kitchen. Directs prep cooks as necessary and works as a team with serving and supervisory staff to facilitate quick and efficient service.
  • Deckhand: Assists the captain in operation of the vessel, including handling lines, checking readings, and communicating via radio. Assists supervisors and other crew members in setting up for cruises. Performs janitorial tasks aboard the vessel and on the landing. Directs passengers during boarding and disembarking, answers guests’ questions, and ensures passenger safety.
  • Photographer: Takes boarding photos before cruises and prepares photo packages using on-board photo editing and printing equipment. Approaches passengers during cruises to offer package purchases.
  • Reservation & Guest Service Clerk: Answers phones and books reservations, checks in passengers arriving for cruises, and sells retail items. Operates the refreshment center in our landing, selling basic alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and light snacks. Maintains a tidiness in the ticketing area and upstairs offices, and assists deckhands with minor janitorial tasks as needed.
  • Shift Supervisor: Responsible for the execution of daily cruises and special events, overseeing and participating in food preparation, and assisting in the management, scheduling, and hiring of employees. This position also ensures that all health and safety regulations are adhered to and that all customers receive the best possible service in a fun, friendly, and safe environment. This is a hands-on supervisory position; shift supervisors are expected to actively participate in cruise preparation and execution.
